Kinderhook Martial Arts and Fitness Center began as a way of bringing the ideals and philosophies of the martial arts to the various communities of Columbia County. Our goal is to enhance the lives of our students through the development and reinforcement of the qualities of inner strength, patriotism, sense of justice, and leadership through physical fitness and mental excellence.

 We see the martial arts as a way of life, promoting self-control and self-discipline, respect for self and others, dedication, modesty, humility, generosity, courage, and sense of order. We are a community-based organization, promoting a family environment along with family values, and one that is dedicated to the excellence of our students. We feel that the lessons learned from the practice of the martial arts will have a long-lasting effect on our students' lives.

Master Josh Blair

Master Josh Blair is currently a 5th Dan in both Tae Kwon Do and Defensive Hapkido. He started his martial arts training at the age of ten and received his Kukkiwon 1st Dan at the age of fifteen. His education and training have continued since. Traveling all around the nation, learning from diverse Masters and Grandmasters, Master Blair has acquired knowledge in various styles, including: Hapkido, Kenpo, Jujutsu, Aikido, Judo, Tai Chi, Kung Fu, and many more. He has also trained with many weapons, including: the Bow, Escrima, knives, Kubaton, and the cane.
